The Hailemariam & Roman Foundation (HRF) conducted a Regular Monitoring Mission for the Agricultural Transformation , Food and Nutrition Security Project from May 18 to 24, 2025. This initiative aims to enhance gender-inclusive household income and food security for Pastoral and Agro-pastoral (PAP) communities, contributing to agricultural transformation across four Woredas: Benatsemay, Hamer, Dasenech, and Nyangatom in South Omo Zone.
Key objectives of the monitoring mission included reviewing project progress, providing technical support, drawing lessons learned, and assessing performance indicators outlined in the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plan.
The monitoring team evaluated the progress of the Woreda-based Joint Accelerated Agricultural Transformation Plan, coordinated by the Woreda Task Force. The team also conducted an after-action review of completed activities, including advocacy conferences, training sessions, and material distribution
During the field visits, innovative agricultural practices, such as Conservation Agriculture (CA), being piloted in partnership with Makobu Enterprises PLC in Hamer and Benatsemay Woredas, were also observed. Taskforce members, including representatives from key sector offices, actively participated in these visits, assessing progress against action plans and the M&E frameworkDiscussions also highlighted challenges encountered during implementation, providing valuable insights to inform future activities.
This Regular Monitoring Mission underscores the commitment of the Agricultural Transformation , Food and Nutrition Security Project to enhance agricultural practices and food security in the South Omo Zone.
