The Hailemariam & Roman Foundation (HRF), in partnership with the Center for International Reproductive Health Training (CIRHT), donated portable ultrasound machines to two health centers in Bena Tsemay and Hamer woredas of South Omo zone. This donation aims to enhance reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) services for underserved pastoralist communities in the intervention woredas.

The handover ceremony took place on May 10, 2025, in Jinka Town, Ari zone.  An  orientation training on ultrasound general operations, handling, and obstetric use was also offered to health workers from the health centers at Jika General Hospital. Key figures from the health sector were present at the ceremony, including Mr. Tamirat Assefa, Head of the Zonal Health Department, alongside HRF Deputy CEO Dr. Sosina Hailemariam and Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) and Nutrition program teams.

This donation is part of HRF’s ongoing contributions to health programs in the zone since 2020/21. This initiative is expected to improve healthcare access and quality for vulnerable communities in the Zone, demonstrating HRF’s commitment to supporting health initiatives that address critical needs.
