The Hailemariam & Roman Foundation (HRF) has been contributing towards the promotion of skilled birth attendance (SBA) in pastoral areas of South Omo Zone through its Maternal, Neonatal, & Child Health (MNCH) & Nutrition Program in collaboration with the South Omo Zone Health Department. In an effort to support expectant mothers in Maternal Waiting Homes (MWHs), the HRF has been actively providing essential in-kind donations.

The MWHs provided safe havens for expectant mothers and increased the number of deliveries attended by skilled birth attendants in each Health Centers. These contributions play a vital role in helping mothers stay comfortable and access the resources they need during their stay. The HRF’s commitment to assisting and empowering these mothers is making a significant difference in their journey towards healthier pregnancies and childbirth.

In the last week, HRF provided 36 quintals of maize that cost 126,180 ETB including miscellaneous expenses, along with 36 carpets worth 30,600 ETB for accommodation.

HRF’s MCHN field officer, in collaboration with the South Omo Zone Health Department, distributed the items to MWHs in 12 Health Centers in Hamer & Bena Tsemay Woredas, and Turmi City Administration.
