The Former First Lady of Ethiopian and CEO of the Hailemariam & Roman Foundation (HRF), H.E Mrs. Roman Tesfaye has attended the third International Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA 2023) in Lusaka from 27-30 November 2023 along with the foundation’s chief of programs for health and nutrition.

The four-day conference, with the theme “Breaking Barriers: Repositioning Africa in the Global Health Architecture,” has brought together researchers, policymakers, health ministers, among others to share scientific findings, collaborate on research and implementation as well as chart a secure future for the continent.

H.E. Roman Tesfaye, the Former First Lady of Ethiopia and CEO of the HRF, stated that the conference offered a unique platform for over 5,000 delegates to reflect on lessons learned in public health and enhance south-to-south and north-to-south collaboration in addressing the pressing health issues of the continent.

“As HRF, we will continue supporting the efforts of government, communities, and partners in bringing socioeconomic transformation in the areas with the highest disparities in Ethiopia and the broader Continent of Africa, ” said H.E. Roman.

Taking the platform of CPHIA 2023 in Lusaka as a networking opportunity, Her Excellency has met with the director of CIRHT-Ethiopia, the Regional Director of Rockefeller Foundation for Africa, the Board member of Africa Public Health Foundation and Deputy Director General of Africa CDC in order to explore areas of interest and potential partnerships.
