The Second Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Agriculture was held last week in Sanya, Hainan Province, China. The cooperation commenced in 2017 under the leadership of AGRA’s Board and its Partnership for Inclusive Agriculture Transformation in Africa (PIATA). Among the attendees of the last week forum were ministers, diplomatic envoys to China, representatives of 38 African countries, the African Union Commission, and representatives of relevant Chinese ministries and agencies, as well as Hainan Province officials.
H.E. Hailemariam Dessalegn, the Former Prime Minister of Ethiopia and chair of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), noted that it was great to be back to the Forum of China-Africa Agricultural Cooperation which was held last week in Sanya Hainan, China for the second time following a four-year hiatus.
H.E. Hailemariam stated that ” remarkable activities have taken place during this crucial forum where I have conferred with Minister Tang Renjian, China’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, on how to strengthen the significant partnership between Africa and China on Agriculture and food security and renewed the MoU signed between MARA and AGRA.”
“Promoting this cooperation to a higher level will help us achieve the key aspect of our plan to strengthen and build high-potential regions where food production can be increased to meet the growing needs of Africa, “ he added.
