In order to boost the interest and involvement of pastoralist students in education and expand their enrolment, the Hailemariam & Roman Foundation’s high-level working team has reviewed the progress of the school meal project that was initiated by the Foundation in five schools of pastoralist woredas in South Omo Zone. Two schools in Hamer Woreda and three schools in Benatsemay Woreda started the school meal program nine months ago. The project also created employment opportunities for 25 pastoralist mothers engaged in food preparation and delivery.

H.E Roman Tesfaye, former First Lady of Ethiopia and CEO of the Hailemariam & Roman Foundation, reviewed the progress of the school meal project, said education is the key to success in life and urged students in pastoralist Woredas, especially girls, to devote their full time to education and change themselves as well as their environment. She remarked that they will continue to support the students’ educational achievement through the Foundation.

During the visit, the students expressed their satisfaction with the school meal project and thanked the Foundation for its support, saying it had eased the burden on pastoralist parents.
