The Hailemariam & Roman Foundation (HRF), in collaboration with the South Omo Zone Agriculture Department, conducted refresher trainings and a stakeholders sensitization workshop from May 13–15, 2026, in Turmi Town, South Omo Zone.
More than 250 participants from Bena Tsemay, Hamer, Dasenech, and Nyangatom woredas of South Omo Zone participated in the sessions, including agricultural experts, animal health workers, private veterinary pharmacy-service providers, and high-level representatives from relevant government institutions and development stakeholders.
While one of the refresher training sessions focused on nutrition-sensitive agriculture, diversification and nutrient-dense food production and consumption, the other focused on improved animal breeds, feed and health service provision. At the concluding session, high-level advocacy and stakeholders’ sensitization discussions were held to mobilize zonal and woreda leaders and stakeholders on taking collective action to improve agricultural production and strengthen value chain systems.
The sessions, conducted under HRF’s Agricultural Transformation, Food and Nutrition Security Project, aimed to strengthen technical knowledge, promote shared understanding, and support ongoing efforts related to food and nutrition security and agricultural development in South Omo Zone.
