In collaboration with the South Omo Zone, the Hailemariam & Roman Foundation (HRF) has been actively engaged in advocacy work and providing in-kind support for pastoral expectant mothers to give birth in health centers. The expectant mothers stay in the Maternal Waiting Homes (MWH) until their delivery.
Following the past year’s advocacy efforts, these MWHs were built by the local community, and they serve as temporary shelters for expectant mothers who reside in remote pastoral areas, ensuring they have access to proper healthcare facilities during their pregnancy and childbirth.
In addition, these expectant mothers are also offered periodic training related to pregnancy, childbirth, and postnatal care aimed at equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to ensure the well-being of themselves and their babies.
