The HRF works to provide learning opportunities for pastoral children in the most rural areas of the country, providing the necessary support including delivering educational supplies and tutorial classes.
On July 6 and 7, 2023, the HRF delivered various educational equipment to five public schools in Turmi City Administration, Hamer, and Bena Tsemay Woredas in South Omo Zone with funds received from the China Foundation for Rural Development, Lingshan Charity Foundation, and Mohan PLC.
During a two-day delivery ceremony held in Dimeka and Key Afer Towns, 160 desks and 11 blackboards were handed over to the five public elementary schools. Likewise, 12 desktop computers were distributed to the Woredas Education Office as well as Women, Children, and Youth Affairs Office to support the educational activities.
The head of the South Omo Zone Education Department, Ato. Dagim Mekonnin, spoke about the support on the occasion and mentioned that a number of schools in the zone need educational supplies, most notably student desks. He expressed his gratitude for the support offered by the HRF. He added that the foundation should continue its support and he urged other NGOs operating in the vicinity to do the same.
On the second day of the event held in Bena Tsemay Woreda, the Woreda Administration handed a certificate of appreciation to the HRF for its significant contribution to the area.
